Curl grubs

What potting mixes are free of curl grubs>
Also where can I get small quantities of nematodes to kill grubs living in my current plant pots and potting mixes?

Answer: Dear Garth

There shouldn’t be any curl grubs in the potting mix you purchase.

Curl grubs are the larvae of the African Black Beetle and this beetle does lay its eggs in soft soil. If you have any left over potting mix in the bag, be careful to store it in a closed container so this beetle has no access to it.

The beetles can also lay their eggs in the soil of existing potted plants or plants that have been freshly potted up.

Predatory nematodes are commercially packaged and sold but you may need to do some searching on the internet to see if they are avaiable on-line or through a distributor.
